the national youth theatre
The National Youth Theatre (NYT) is a world-leading youth arts organisation that focuses on straight plays and acting. They showcase young talent on West End stages and in stadiums world-wide.
NYT was founded in 1956 by Michael Croft and Kenneth Spring and was the world's first youth theatre company. John Michael Croft was a British actor, ex-schoolteacher and writer and Kenneth Spring was a British Army officer and artist.
NYT has helped British actors like Daniel Day-Lewis, Helen Mirren, Daniel Craig, Ben Kingsley, Colin Firth, and Orlando Bloom become who they are today.
Each year, NYT holds acting auditions which gives the chance for people under the age of 25 to become apart of the company and then they are therefore allowed to audition for NYT productions that are staged in the West End.
